What is an e-card?
An e-card is essentially an electronic "postcard" that can be sent out to subscribers or prospects. Flash technology is used to that the postcards become interactive, allowing the use of music, games and animated transitions.
The benefits
E-cards are used alot in the music business for launching new album releases, but can suit any business type. Their real advantage over other types of advertising are in their ability to spread to people other than those on the original subscriber list. Commonly a "send to a friend" feature is added, along with an incentive such as a competition, meaning that these postcards get passes around, pushing your message and brand further around the Net.
